SEAT Tarraco e-HYBRID: Big SUV, Green Conscience
Af Rasmus Kønig

The family is growing, the boot needs to be big, and your conscience demands lower emissions. The SEAT Tarraco e-HYBRID attempts to solve all three problems at once — and for the most part, it succeeds.
What is the SEAT Tarraco e-HYBRID?
The Tarraco e-HYBRID is SEAT's plug-in hybrid version of their large seven-seat SUV. Under the bonnet sits a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine paired with an electric motor, delivering a combined 245 hp. The 13 kWh battery provides up to 50 km of electric range on the WLTP cycle — enough for most daily commutes on electricity alone.
Practical and spacious
The Tarraco is SEAT's largest SUV, and it shows. The cabin is bright and airy, seating up to seven. Boot space is 700 litres with five seats — slightly less than the non-hybrid version due to the battery pack, but still more than adequate for an active family. Equipment levels are generous, with digital instrument cluster, large touchscreen and head-up display as standard on most trims.
Driving and fuel economy
On the motorway the Tarraco is calm and comfortable. The hybrid system switches smoothly between petrol and electric power, and regenerative braking tops up the battery on the move. Keep the battery charged and commuters can easily achieve real-world consumption below 2 l/100 km on mixed routes. Drive mainly on the motorway with a depleted battery and consumption is higher — in that respect it is no different from a conventional SUV.
Verdict
The SEAT Tarraco e-HYBRID is a sensible choice for families who want a large SUV without sacrificing an eco-friendly profile in everyday driving. It is spacious, well-equipped and pleasant to drive. Pricing starts from around €74,000 — not cheap, but competitive in the segment.
Up to 50 km on pure electricity — enough to cover most daily commutes without visiting a petrol station.
